The Trane Energy Efficiency Leader Award demonstrates Trane’s commitment to energy efficiency and sustainability, while recognizing its customers in these achievements around the world. Trane recently presented the award to customers in six countries who are working to link the physical environment of their buildings and assets to their business outcomes. Schneider Electric Supports Code for Design of High-Performance Buildings

Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, has announced its support of ANSI/ASHRAE/USGBC/IES Standard 189.1-2009, Standard for the Design of High-Performance, Green Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings, a new standard for the design of high-performance green buildings. Standard 189.1 is the first high-performance green-building standard published for adoption by governmental jurisdictions. more

EnOcean and Texas Instruments to Expand Energy Harvesting Technology Cooperation

EnOcean and Texas Instruments (TI) have announced the expansion of their cooperation to provide wireless solutions for building automation. Through this agreement, the companies will create solutions jointly enabling self-powered wireless sensor networks. To further optimize its product portfolio, EnOcean will integrate TI components in its energy-efficient wireless modules. EnOcean’s battery-less wireless technology harvests energy from its surroundings—motion, light, or differences in temperature—and enables new ecologically minded self-powered wireless applications. more

Honeywell Implements Smart-Metering Network for Municipality

Honeywell has announced it is implementing a smart-metering network for Duncan, Okla., that will allow the municipality to collect electricity- and water-usage data from residents and local businesses automatically. The smart-grid deployment is part of a broader energy-efficiency and public-safety program funded by a 15-year, $14.2-million energy-savings performance contract and backed in part by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). The program will help the city improve meter accuracy, reduce its energy and operating costs, and enhance public-safety services. more

AERCO to Build New Headquarters

AERCO has signed an agreement to build a new corporate headquarters that will allow the company to best meet the growing demand for its boilers, hot water heaters, and other products and services. The facility will encompass 156,000 sq ft—more than twice the size of AERCO’s existing headquarters—and will allow the company to consolidate all of its product development, manufacturing, sales, service, and operations to address the needs of the market. more
